Inchcape Philippines Formally Takes Over CATS Operations

It’s official: Inchcape Plc has now officially entered the Philippine market with the formalization of its joint-venture with the CATS Group of Companies. The deal includes the acquisition by Inchcape of a controlling 60 percent stake, while the remaining 40 percent remains with CATS founding Ang family.

The entity, formally known as Inchcape Philippines will become the exclusive local distributor of Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Harley Davidson. More brands are expected to join the Inchcape Philippines umbrella, but these announcements will be made in due time.

Inchcape Philippines will also continue to retain Mazda as an authorized dealership.

Inchcape Philippines will leverage Inchcape and CATS’ commercial resources, advanced digital capabilities, global insights, and local market knowledge with the goal to power better mobility in the Philippines.

Alex Hammett, Managing Director of South Asia & Pacific will assume responsibility for the business in the Philippines with the local leadership team, headed by Frankie Ang, Chief Operating Officer, Inchcape Philippines.

  1. Hope something is done about their atrocious after-sales service! Very unfitting of the Mercedes name sadly.
