The Chery Tiggo HEV Is Arriving At PH Showrooms

Watch out MG ZS and BYD Sealion 5 DM-i, the hybrid version of Chery’s small SUV—the Tiggo Cross—takes a step closer to arriving at local showrooms. The Tiggo Cross HEV has just received its homologation papers from the LTO which points to its imminent arrival.

Confirmed by specs submitted to the LTO, the Tiggo Cross HEV it gets an electrified 1.5-liter 4-cylinder. The electric motor alone makes a stout 150 kW (204 horsepower), enough for a 153 km/h top speed. Other details in the filing include the use of a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

These specs point to the use of Chery’s Super Hybrid system. In this setup, the combustion engine makes 96 horsepower and 120 Nm thanks to its lean Atkinson combustion cycle. It’s further supplemented, however, by an electric motor making 204 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. This system is paired to single-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) that drives the front wheels. Weight is up some 50 kilograms (1,565 kg curb weight) compared to the non-hybrid, but its 0 to 100 km/h time drops to 9.4 seconds.

Compared to other Chery hybrid setups which either were mild hybrids or plug-in hybrids, this one is a full series-parallel setup. It’s a proprietary system with a 1.83-kWh battery helping boost its fuel economy to 18.51 km/L. It can also go up to 1,000 kilometers between fill ups thanks to a sizeable 51-liter tank.

The Tiggo Cross HEV measures in at 4,320 mm in length, 1,831 mm in width, and 1,652 mm in height. It sports a 2,610 mm wheelbase and a ground clearance of 190 mm.

Among the possible specs of the Tiggo Cross HEV include dual 10.25-inch screens with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power adjustable front seats, dual zone climate control with rear vents, and ambient interior lighting.

With the Tiggo Cross HEV just receiving its LTO homologation, it’ll just be a matter of months before it’ll arrive at local showrooms. Keep your eyes peeled with this newest addition from Chery Auto Philippines.

  1. Is it mainly because of the Chinese government subsidizing Chinese cars that's why they can sell them cheaper than competitors?

    1. Actually the Chinese govt did not subsidizing car maker, but give incentive to car manufacturer, like our govt give incentive to new energy car, the Chinese ways of marketing is make 'Thin profit but more turnover and more sell'. unlike other brands, they benefits from government incentive, lower taxes, but they still sell their cars at super high mark up.

    2. There are some European car makers (selling in Europe right now) that are showing that you can build cars with great specs and sell them for cheaper than the big players. The fact that the Japanese car makers here are giving big discounts more often shows that they can afford to sell them cheaper, it's just that their market dominance has not been as threatened like this before.

    4. Spare part problem, that was long time ago, the distributors know this is the anxious of buying Chinese cars, So most Chinese cars distributors here have set up spare part readiness, Jetour Ph have 3000 sq meter in Valenzuela warehouse for spare part alone, Geely Ph have 4700 sq meter spare part in Cabuyao Laguna, Gwm have big spare part warehouse in alabang, Uaagi had hectares spare part in it main warehouse, and have several sub warehouses in different area, even new Changan distributor have set up 4000 sq meter warehouse of spare part in Pasig, some distributors have hotline and mobile app for spare part assistant.

  4. Chery performance in Philippines 2024 and this year 1st quarter and 2nd quarter was not better than his previous year.
They should use 'Lower the price to get market share' strategy, para may laban sa mga haponese cars.

    1. One year of lower sales is (by itself) not enough to justify a price drop. For big companies it takes a lot of time to review and revise their strategies. If you drop your price every time you have lower sales people will keep waiting for another price drop and you actually discourage purchases. Which is why big businesses try not to practice that.

  5. Chery tiggo cross was able to gather more than 1000 unit reservations in Malaysia in just two day period. In Philippines i wonder if they can able to secure 100 unit in two week time, i think if they make really very attractive low price, i believe they can achieve 10,000 unit sale within a year time.

  6. Base on analysis, Chery is not as popular than BYD and MG in Philippines, Tiggo cross Hev should have more better specifications and lower pricing than BYD sealion 5 and MG zs hybrid to be competitive and attractive in Philippines.

  7. How much would this Chery Tiggo HEV cost?

    1. i think mas appropriate if this will price the same as previous Chery tiggo 5 pro hybrid or lower. In China, have intense price war, price is low, in Philippines they can't give same price level as in China, because of transport shipping, custom taxes, etc.. but Philippines Chinese cars distibutors of can still lower a little bit in pricing.
