Mazda has confirmed that a next-generation CX-3 is coming. The new B-segment SUV is tapped to become a core model in Mazda’s increasingly electrified crossover-centric line-up. It will join the likes of Mazda in-house developed vehicles such as the all-new CX-5 as well as jointly-developed electric (with Changan) and hybrid (with Toyota) models.
No additional information about the all-new CX-3 has been shared yet, but previously, Mazda has announced that this hybrid small crossover is set to be built at the Auto Alliance Thailand (AAT) plant. It will then be exported to global markets including Japan.
With production slated to begin in 2027, expect a global unveil later this year.
Mazda will take advantage of the Thai government’s recent support measures to boost its EV industry. Introduced in December 2024, it included the reduction of excise tax for hybrid vehicles, whether full or hybrid.
For mild hybrids (MHEVs), the Thai government has put in strict compliance requirements including maximum CO2 emissions of just 120 g/km, a minimum investment requirement of 5 billion Baht for local manufacturing, use of locally-produced key components including batteries, and the installation of at least four out of six specified ADAS.
The next-generation CX-3 is said to be compliant to all these requirements.
In terms of design, the all-new CX-3 may take on cues from the Vision X-Compact concept (lead photo) which was unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show in 2025.
