MG Iloilo Is First-Ever MG Dealer Of The Year

MG Iloilo nabbed the first-ever MG Motor Philippines Dealer of the Year Award. Operated by GrandCars, Inc., the performance of MG Iloilo as well as the rest of the MG dealer network was instrumental in the Chinese brand’s highest sales volume ever with over 9,000 units sold in 2024.

Geely is now operating as a subsidiary with direct ties to Geely Automotive International Corporation (GAIC). During its brand re-launch, the head of Geely Motor Philippines, Willy Wan outlined its strategy which can be summarized as: cheaper, better, faster.

Geely Motor Philippines is now in business. Switching from a distributor to subsidiary arrangement, the carmaker has formally introduced its new product offerings, representing its present and its future. Apart from the updated Coolray (which they announced in October) and Emgrand, Geely showed off the EX5 full-electric compact SUV.

The Coolray isn’t the only internal combustion engine model that received updates for 2025. Under Geely Motor Philippines, a newly formed subsidiary that reports directly to Geely in China, the Emgrand sub-compact sedan gets a slew of updates as well.

Mercedes-Benz, under Inchcape Philippines, has special offers for their all-electric EQ series this February 14 to 16, 2025.

Mazda has released the schedule of all legs of its Fan Festa 2025 which will be held in Tohoku, Fuji Speedway, and Okayama in Japan.

Review: 2025 BMW X5 xDrive50e M Sport

The X5 burst into the scene at the turn of the century and was the first SUV that emphasized “Sport” over “Utility”, so much so that BMW coined the term, “Sport Activity Vehicle.” Over the 26 years and four generations that followed, the X5 continued to be the gold standard and whatever it did, rivals like the Audi Q7, Lexus RX, and whatever dreadful thing Mercedes-Benz comes up with these days, followed. Hard to believe this current-generation—the G05—was launched way back in 2018, because as far as we’re concerned it’s still a darn good drive.

Despite challenges elsewhere, Mitsubishi Motors says they remain committed to the Philippines. In fact, the Japanese carmaker pledged an additional P 7-billion investment in the next five years, including plans to join the Philippine government’s replacement to the CARS program.

A bit of trivia: I almost ended up working for Ford as a product planner sometime in the 2000s. Though I passed all the interviews and even got an offer, the Blue Oval’s then marketing guy decided I’d be better off continuing my career as a motoring journalist, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for close to 30 years now. Now, I write about cars for a living, I still can’t help but look at the presence of products and its features the way a product planner would. Does it make sense? Does it contribute to the brand’s overall image? Is it priced right?
