Mitsubishi Xpander Reservations Breach 1,800 Units

If you’re still on the fence about the Mitsubishi Xpander, prepare to get in line. According to Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) Senior Marketing for Marketing Services, Mr. Arlan Reyes, the Xpander’s reservation queue has already surpassed 1,800 units in less than 60 days.

In a report published by The Philippine STAR, Mr. Reyes says that people had plopped down their reservation fee even without seeing the Xpander in person.

Manufactured at Mitsubishi’s new factory in Bekasi Prefecture, Indonesia, the Xpander is Mitsubishi’s next-generation MPV. Offering 7 seats, it’s powered by a 1.5-liter 4A91 MIVEC gasoline engine making 105 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. According to Mr. Reyes, this offers a balance between performance and fuel economy, something that the Filipino buyer always looks for. Based on unofficial Department of Energy (DOE) test parameters, the Xpander returns more than 20 km/L after running more than 200 kilometers.

With a total cabin length of 2,840 millimeters, the Xpander provides comfortable seating across all three rows. Mr. Reyes reiterates that the interior space rivals that of bigger MPVs available in the market. In addition, the second and third row seats fold flat creating a cavernous cargo room.

The Xpander is now available for viewing at all Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide. MMPC is also set to go on a full-on media campaign with a TV ad set to debut sometime in April and more “head-to-head” roadshows of the Xpander soon.

  3. Dunno why Flips are obsessed with cheap 7 seaters. Are the 2 additional and increased ride height really worth it to sacrifice a sedan's feel, handling and comfort? Safety and equipment are compromised as well.

    1. Then buy a van for that purpose, or the innova.

    2. Pareho naman kayong may point. comparing a sedan to an MPV there's a big difference when it comes to comfort so in this segment sedan is more comfortable than the MPV.

Sedan has a lower ground clearance that can reduce the amount of gravity. sa madaling salita konti lang posibilidad na magbounce and spring or shock

MPV is alternate option for bigger family, example 7 family member or 5 family member.

just giving my thoughts and opinion please don't get offended.

  6. Vans like what? Hi ace and escapade? Those are much much more underpowered than the expander, good thing if an average filipino family man can buy a sub 2 million peso grandia and starex, and innova is more expensive

    2. The additional 100k is more than worth it even for the base innova than that puny Xpander.

    1. Stupid opinon? Only someone ignorant or stupid would buy the Xpander over the Innova. For 100k more, you get more ground clearance, interior space, a powerful diesel engine and better materials inside. The ground clearance and space which is why people buy mpvs in the first place. Tell me, in what way is the Xpander better than the Innova? Can't afford? I'm driving something more expensive than both cars but neither of the two brands above.

  8. Topgear PH first drive says it all... engine grunts on uphill climb... that's short of saying its an underpowered car... but it is a given that a small engine cannot carry much weight... it puts a lot of stress on your little engine.
When you evaluate such vehicles technically, one would hope these car companies stop fooling buyers with their "7-seater frugal cars". Good luck!
