Owners Have Spoken: The Hyundai Tucson Is Best For Road Trips

Have a road trip? Best do it in a Hyundai Tucson. This is according to a new poll done by U.K.-based Auto Trader which rated the Korean compact SUV as the best car for long distance driving.

More than 148,000 respondents were asked to rate their cars across 16 different criteria from reliability and performance to appearance and running costs. They were also asked about their overall satisfaction with their car and how likely they would be to recommend it to others.

According to Auto Trader, the Tucson scored highly for luggage space, driving position, and fuel economy. It’s air conditioning and infotainment system also received high marks.

While the Auto Trader survey takes into account the current-generation Tucson, Hyundai believes the all-new 2022 Tucson (see photo below) can do one better.

Coming to the Philippines later this year, the all-new Tucson puts digitalization front-and-center. Features, at least in global models, include a 10.25-inch open digital cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment screen. It also dispenses with physical switches and controls meaning all controls are done by touch—the first Hyundai model to do so.

The 2022 Tucson is also larger—20 mm longer, 15 mm wider, and the wheelbase has been expanded by 10 mm. With that, rear passengers enjoy 26 mm more legroom, and the luggage space now offers 620 liters of space (up to 1,799 liters with the rear seats folded).

Further comfort-enhancing technologies include Multi-Air Mode which consists of a combination of direct and indirect air vents for air conditioning and heating to create a more pleasant indoor environment with more gentle air flow.
