BYD Philippines Accepting Orders For Most Affordable EV SUV: The 2023 Atto 3 For P 2.598M (w/ Specs)

BYD Philippines is now accepting orders for the 2023 Atto 3 SUV. Unlike the Dolphin EV which was designed primarily for the Chinese domestic market and subsequently made available for export, the Atto 3 is built from the ground-up as part of the Chinese battery electric vehicle leader’s global push.

The front-wheel drive compact EV SUV features an exterior design inspired by human movement and energy. The same theme carries inside with its “Muscle Fiber” inspired dashboard. Even details such as the door handles and AC vents are unconventional as they’re made to look like dumbbell plates.

For the Philippine market, BYD Philippines is making the Atto 3 available in two variants: Dynamic and Premium. Both variants use the same permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 204 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. This gives it a zero to 100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds.

Both versions also use BYD’s proprietary Blade Battery, but differs in the overall kWh capacity. The entry-level Dynamic has an overall capacity of 50-kWh (49.92-kWh), while the Premium uses a 60-kWh (60.48-kWh). This gives the Atto 3 a maximum cruising range of 430 to 520 kilometers between charges.

The Atto 3 can be charged using a conventional 220-volt household socket, but the included 7-kW wall charger can drop it down to as little as 7 to 8 hours. If you’re lucky enough to have access to a DC fast charger, the Dynamic can juice up at a rate of 70-kW, while the Premium ups that to 80-kW. In both cases, it uses a GB/T connector. Included with every Atto 3 is a Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) adaptor allowing users to power up small household appliances.

Further differentiating the Dynamic and Premium variants apart are larger (18-inch versus 17-inch), LED headlights, and a panoramic sunroof.

Inside, synthetic leather seats are standard on both variants, as is a giant rotating 12.8-inch tablet touchscreen display which controls most vehicle functions. It also supports OTA (Over The Air) updates allowing the Atto 3 to possibly include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the near future (currently it only supports Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming).

In terms of safety features, the 5-star Euro NCAP-rated Atto 3 comes standard with 4 SRS airbags, tire pressure monitoring, ABS with EBD, stability control, and rear parking sensors with reverse camera. The Premium variant adds a variety of driver assist functions such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, along with front clearance sensors, a 360-degree camera, and two additional airbags.

Following the trend set by the BYD Dolphin, the Atto 3 is currently the most affordable all-electric compact SUV in the Philippine market. The 2023 BYD Atto 3 is priced at P 2,598,000 for the Dynamic and P 2,898,000 for the Premium. It’s available in four colors: Surfing Blue, Parkour Red, Climbing Gray, and Skiing White. Customer deliveries will take 3 to 4 months after a firm reservation of P 1-million has been made at BYD Philippines’s official dealership located on Dian Street, Makati.

  1. Nice, Byd is at level of tesla in terms of quality and reliability. Is the zero tariff on EV's already in effect?

  3. Local distributor of BYD main problem is the the lack of dealers in metro Manila and poor service area in Buendia Makati. How can you buy their Cars if you have no confidence that they can serve when problem arises.

    1. Ang mahal parin nga ng benta nila kahit "bawas" na daw ang tariff ng mga EV 600K more for Doplhin, 800K more for Atto3. Dapat BYD mismo ang pumunta dito para walang overprice midman
