"Exciting Announcement" To Be Made At Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup Race Weekend 4

The fourth and final race weekend of the 2026 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup is happening this Thursday, October 22 to Saturday, October 24 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga. The event is open to the public and admission is free. The race will also be livestreamed on Facebook.

Setting the stage for a bigger finale, the races during the fourth race weekend will have double points. Leading the standings as of Race Weekend 3 are Red Diwa for the Super Sporting Class, Bern Zaragoza for the Sporting Class, and Iñigo Anton for the Tamaraw Class.

Aside from the sprint and endurance races, racing fans can look forward to fun side activities such as the remote control (RC) track and simulator racing rigs. Enthusiasts looking to mod their rides can also visit the sponsors’ booths, while those in the mood to elevate their wardrobe can check out the new lineup of official Gazoo Racing merchandise.

Toyota has confirmed that for the 2027 season, Toyota will be making an “addition” to its premier racing series.

Although official details will be announced during Race Weekend 4, the clue could be hiding in the official poster for the TGR Philippine Cup Race Weekend 4 poster. In it, it shows the Tamaraw OMR and the Vios OMR racing to the finish line, but behind the both of them, partly obscured by the Taramaw OMR, is the GR 86.

There has been whispers in the grapevine for quite a while that Toyota Motor Philippines and Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines have been working on a one-make racing series featuring the lightweight, rear-wheel drive sportscar as a higher step in its motorsports ladder. The go signal was supposedly shown when Toyota Motor Philippines president Masando Hashimoto managed to drive the rival MSCC Mazda Miata Spec Series car last year at the invitation of Mazda Philippines president Steven Tan.

Reportedly, the GR 86 OMR will be priced in the same bracket as the MSCC Mazda Miata Spec Series (P 2.8- to P 3.2-million). It will be modified for racing duties by Autoplus and several other TGR Philippine Cup partners.

“We hope the developments we are planning for the 2027 season will attract new motorsports fans,” shared TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Elijah Marcial. “It has always been our mantra at TGR Philippines to continue pushing the limits for better not just for the activities we are already doing, but also when looking for new ways to bring the thrill closer to Filipino motorsport fans,” she added.

The TGR Philippine Cup has been serving as a “rolling laboratory” since Race Weekend 2 in July, when TMP first introduced the use of low-carbon biofuels for the One-Make Races (OMR) of the Vios and Tamaraw. TMP has been testing E20 fuel, a 20 percent bio-ethanol blend, on the Vios, and B5 fuel, a 5 percent coco-biodiesel blend, on the Tamaraw as part of efforts to test alternative solutions toward energy security while supporting the country’s agricultural sector and the decarbonization of the transportation sector.

Race Weekend 4 will mark the culmination of this rolling laboratory initiative, with key findings to be consolidated and shared by TMP to relevant stakeholders to support informed and productive applications moving forward.
