Before its local arrival on October 28, the Geely Monjaro EM-i has already set a new Guinness World Record in one the world’s most demanding driving environments.
The premium five-seater plug-in hybrid SUV set a new Guinness World Record title last month for the “Fastest crossing of Egypt’s Black and White Deserts in the Sahara by a plug-in hybrid powered production SUV.” The record sure is ultra-specific, but there’s no discounting that the 188.6-kilometer route from the Black Desert to the White Desert was done in extreme heat and challenging terrain.
The Monjaro EM-i was subjected to five professional capability challenges covering extreme handling and stability, repeated steep-slope climbs, cross-axle recovery, rough-terrain ride comfort and acceleration at a low state of charge.
Like the system set to make its debut in the Philippines, the Monjaro EM-i uses the Super Hybrid system. The 1.5-liter turbo hybrid-specific engine with electric drive delivers a peak 340 horsepower (250 kW) and 667 Nm of torque.
Moreover, an intelligent electric all-wheel drive system balances performance, control, and comfort based on prevailing road conditions, Continuous Damping Control suspension, and an intelligent power-management system designed to maintain responsive performance even under demanding conditions.
