Merry Christmas: Report Says Zinc Green Metallic Mazda MX-5 Coming In December

Fancy a green Mazda MX-5? You’re in luck. Mazda Philippines says that the fourth-generation MX-5 “ND” in Zinc Green Metallic is arriving by December.

Zinc Green Metallic takes its inspiration from the color and texture of zinc chromate primer, an undercoat used to enhance the durability of industrial products. It translates the rational functional beauty into a sense of toughness expressed through color and texture.

As reported by Top Gear Philippines during the Miata Club of the Philippines monthly meeting, 25 units of the Zinc Green Metallic MX-5 are arriving by December.

The new colorway will be available in both soft top and Retractable Fastback (RF) flavors. Like the current (2024) MX-5, the soft top comes in either manual or automatic transmission, while the RF will only come with an automatic.

The Zinc Green Metallic MX-5 soft top will come exclusively with a tan top and tan nappa leather seats, while the RF comes with a choice between a black or tan nappa leather seats. This color combo means that the silver top won’t make it to the Philippines as this one comes only with the black leather seats on the soft top.

Apart from the new colorway, the MX-5 comes with small, incremental improvements (its 10th iteration since its launch) such as an Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system now capable of detecting both pedestrians and cyclists (previously pedestrians only). It also has a new Driver Attention Alert (DAA) system.

No other details were given regarding the 2027 MX-5, but hopefully Mazda Philippines will bring in the two new styling packages for the roadster.

One styling package comes with silver exterior accents, silver Brembo brakes, and extended interior trim. The other one comes with Ray wheels, red Brembo brakes, Bilstein dampers, and a front strut tower bar.
