Blindspot Detection Now Part of ASEAN NCAP Safety Standards


The ASEAN New Car Assessment Program or NCAP is now including blindspot object detection as part of its safety assist technology test under its revised ASEAN NCAP 2017-2020 protocol. Blindspot technology (BST) is now a requirement to obtain points for a higher ASEAN NCAP rating and aims to reduce motorcycle fatalities across the ASEAN region.

2018 Toyota Yaris Receives 5-Star Safety Rating; Suzuki APV Cab Chassis Nets a Zero


The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries or ASEAN NCAP released the results of 4 new crash tests done during the fourth quarter of 2017. These vehicles are the first in ASEAN NCAP’s new protocol for 2017-2020 which uses a single rating system that comprises Adult Occupancy Protection (50 percent) Child Occupant Protection 25 percent), and Safety Assist Technologies (25 percent).

Malaysia Becomes First ASEAN Country to Mandate Electronic Stability Control


Malaysia is taking the leadership in the field of automotive safety, becoming the first country in the ASEAN region to mandate ESC or Electronic Stability Control on all new vehicles by June 2018. The announcement was made by the Malaysian Minister of Transport during the launch of the “Stop the Crash ASEAN” which took place at the Sepang F1 Circuit in Malaysia.

Subaru XV Scores Top 5-Star Rating in NCAP Safety Test

If you're going to hit something head on, it better be a Subaru XV. Well, that stems from the crash test results of Subaru's new baby crossover. All in all, the XV has received top ratings for "adult occupant protection", "child occupant protection", "pedestrian protection" and "safety assist". Subaru has already gotten another Top Rating with its Legacy two years ago.
