Review: 2012 Hyundai Tucson GLS 2WD

About a decade ago, the bulk of automotive sales was comprised of compact sedans. Think Toyota Corolla; Honda Civic; Mitsubishi Lancer and Nissan Sentra. But soon, a great sales paradigm shift happened, and pretty soon, every car manufacturer had a crossover in their line-up. Though they stood on the very same platform that underpinned compact sedans, crossovers are regarded as a status symbol and combined with its higher ground clearance, ‘command seating position’ and flexible interior meant everyone had or wanted a crossover.

The Hyundai Tucson is a Car That Fits with Everyone in the Family [ADVERTORIAL]

Sport Utility Vehicles or SUVs are sought after because they’re practical and great value-for-money. And while buying one may be left to the moms or dad, everyone has a say. It can be difficult to get a consensus among the family members if each has his or her own priorities or needs, and even more so, when the car is shared by everyone. Thankfully, there’s one SUV that meets the needs of everyone in the family and that’s the all-new Hyundai Tucson.

Review: 2007 Hyundai Tucson CRDi

Today’s trendy lifestyle demands something more out of a car.  What was once a means of getting from point A to point B has become a sort of mirror to your own personally—something that ultimately tells the people around you who you are.  The ever increasing compact SUV segment is a testament to this as buyers are beginning to look beyond the three-box compact sedan in favor of something much more stylish and personal.  Of course, it helps having an SUV body style since it offers much more flexibility and utility—something that can’t be said with any sedan.

Review: 2014 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 GLS 2WD

Generally, mid-cycle refreshes are called “facelifts” for good reason: because aside from a nose job and an accompanying price hike, you don’t get much else; manufacturers simply leave the good stuff for the all-new model arriving down the road. Every once in a while though, a car manufacturer breaks this mold and adds a bit more spice into the mix. One such case is the 2014 Hyundai Tucson, but it’s something you don’t obviously see; as it looks like the same one that debuted in 2009. However, drive one and you’ll experience the difference.

Review: 2016 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 S VGT 2WD

The Hyundai Tucson has embarked on a remarkable transformation in just the span of 12 years. Looking back to the first generation model and comparing it to the current third generation, you know it’s come a long way. From the ugly duckling it once was, today’s Tucson doesn’t have a single hair out of place. Perfectly styled with all the right angles and curves, it’s one of the best looking compact crossovers around. The question beckons though: how does it compare to the competition?

Review: 2019 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 GLS CRDi 2WD

This is a perfect example of how competitive the compact crossover segment can be. Had I reviewed the 2019 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 GLS CRDi just a month ago, I would have concluded it to be a practical, well-valued compact SUV. Now though, it’s hard to attach the words, “value for money” to it anymore. Instead of heaping praise to the changes Hyundai’s made with this refresh, now I’m thinking: “Why didn’t make their SUV future-proof?”

Review: 2017 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 GLS CRDI 2WD

It’s hard to make out what’s going with the Hyundai Tucson. After being mostly impressed with their just-below-the-range-topper model, the 2.0 S CRDI 2WD last year, it’s time to sample what’s supposed to be their mid-tier model, the 2.0 GLS CRDI 2WD to see if the magic rubs onto the lower models as well. In a twist of fate however, Hyundai has re-shuffled its variants for beginning in September which means this particular Tucson now sits just below the top-of-the-line model: the available-by-indent-order 4WD variant. With far less equipment than before and a higher price tag, can the Tucson 2.0 GLS CRDI 2WD still be considered as a good value compact crossover?

First Drive: 2016 Hyundai Tucson GLS

For most people, 2009 doesn’t seem like that long ago. For Hyundai though, this particular year was when everything began to change thanks to the introduction of Fluidic Sculpture and the second-generation Tucson. The swoopy, expressive lines introduced in the compact crossover enabled the Korean car brand to raise its flag not as a manufacturer of affordable utilitarian transport, but as a company that builds fashionable, well-equipped, and high-quality cars.

UPDATED: The 2016 Hyundai Tucson Looks Like a Baby Santa Fe

UPDATE 1: We just took it out for a spin around Capiz to Caticlan (9/8).

Hyundai has just taken the wraps off the all-new Tucson and they’re hoping to push the envelope with its cutting-edge design and available technology. The third-generation compact crossover represents a significant step forward for the Korean carmaker and aims to be the poster child for the tagline, “New Thinking, New Possibilities”. It’s powered by a wide range of engines and, for the first time, will be made for Europe (at least for the European market).

It looks like the top two Korean brands in the country are about to instigate a price war with each other. After launching its game-changing Soluto sub-compact sedan, Kia found its thunder stolen by its mechanical twin, the Hyundai Reina less than 24 hours later. Since then, these two have been engaging in a peso tug-of-war. For the next few days, it looks like Kia Philippines may have the upper hand.
