Nissan Launches All-New Teana, Will it Arrive in the Philippines?

Nissan has launched the all-new Teana in Japan, a model which the company aims to move more than 600,000 units worldwide including the United States and China. To do so, Nissan has gone away with “hospitality”, which was the defining theme of the previous model and instead, pursued “driving performance” for the all-new Teana.

Nissan admits that the Teana hasn’t that been aggressively designed, so for the third-generation model, they designed it with a “shot of adrenaline” and made it to look sportier with its wide and aggressive stance. The overall presence is also sharper with character lines extending from the facia towards the back and a new front grille that sits between the angularly cantered headlamps.

Despite going all “driving performance”, designers of the all-new Teana decided to continue with the “hospitality” route of its predecessor inside. With the concept of “Omotenashi”, the all-new Teana features a distinct character line that stretches out from the instrumental panel reminiscent of “a majestic bird with its wings spread out”.  The front seats feature “Spinal Support Technology” which greatly improves passenger comfort and together with a tilt/telescopic steering wheel and ergonomically placed controls, driving the Teana is a breeze. The trademark ottoman front seat continues.

In terms of driving performance, the defining character of this car, Nissan engineers gifted the Teana an all-new multi-link rear suspension that delivers better in-turn response while keeping the supple ride quality. A new Active Trace Control improves handling while minimizing the need for steering connections. Providing power is Nissan’s QR25 engine with 165 horsepower that comes mated to the XTRONIC CVT system which should enable excellent acceleration while returning good fuel economy (14.4 km/L). Safety-wise, the all-new Teana is available with Nissan’s Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Bling Spot Warning, and Lane Departure Warning.

Here’s hoping that Nissan Philippines will bring in the all-new Teana here in the country to give their line-up a much needed shot of adrenaline as well. Fingers crossed!

  2. Any news on the Sentra? I think that one is more important to them than the Teana.

    1. You're right, AM. Actually the better question is: when are they officially launching? Nissan's been very, very quiet after the announcement of Nissan Philippines.

  3. 14.4 KM/Liter??? such crap. Our Teana barely hits 10km/l... The seats are not that comfy compared to the Camry. The drivers seat is not that fully adjustable either. For a price tag of 1.4m that we got it for, I certainly would not buy it again. In fact, I am selling it by next year.
