As GR Supra production winds down, Toyota Motor Philippines has announced the updated “A91” GR Supra as stocks come in from clients who’ve placed an order (remember, dealers are not stocking on this sportscar, so there’s a lead time of up to five months).
Launched globally in 2020 (as a MY2021 model), the updated GR Supra sure took its time getting to the country. Although it was spotted at a GR Supra track day in 2022, Toyota Motor Philippines did not make any official announcement then.
Primarily, this version of the sports car sees a power bump to its 3.0-liter inline-6. The B58B30O1 now makes 387 horsepower from 5,800 to 6,500 rpm—a jump of 52 horsepower from the previous 3.0-liter. Torque, at 500 Nm from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm remains the same.
The uprated power is thanks to a slew of upgrades throughout the engine. The new dual-branch exhaust manifold, with six ports instead of two, improves heat management. A new piston design reduces the engine’s compression ratio from 11:1 to 10.2:1.
All in all, the projected 0 to 100 km/h times of the A91 GR Supra drops from 4.1 to 3.9 seconds when paired with the 8-speed automatic. Its 250 km/h top speed remains the same.
Apart from the new engine, the 2021 GR Supra gets retuned chassis as well. It adds lightweight aluminum braces that tie the strut towers to the radiator support to increase lateral rigidity, along with front and rear bump stops and new damper tuning. The steering, suspension, stability control, and active differential were all retuned as well to make it stable through quick transitions.
In terms of colors, Toyota is offering a total of eight on order:
- White Metallic
- Avalanche White Metallic
- Volcanic Ash Gray Metallic
- Matte Storm Gray Metallic
- Black Metallic
- Prominence Red
- Dawn Blue Metallic
- Plasma Orange
Inside, it stays the same apart from the addition of wireless Apple CarPlay.
Pricing starts at P 5,396,000 and tops out at P 5,496,000. The variation depends on the color ordered with Matte Storm Gray Metallic adding the P 100,000 premium.
Now where's those saying toyota only make boring cars?
ReplyDeleteIt's a BMW Z4 with a different body
DeleteChassis, engine and transmission of it came from BMW Z4 and is manufactured on the same plant as Z4 (Austria).
Its expensive and not a good buy as BMW vehicles aren't that reliable and very expensive to maintain
This is a BMW
DeleteBoring only for those who can't afford their more premium offerings like this Supra or the LC300, Prado, FJ Cruiser, etc.
ReplyDeleteThis GR Supra is way more expensive than the Prado and even the phased out FJ Cruiser
DeleteThis is made by BMW for Toyota
ReplyDeleteToyota PH has been selling the updated Supra for quite some time now
ReplyDeleteEven if they did, they just officially "revealed it" recently.
