Waiting for the refreshed 2025 GR Yaris? You won’t have to wait long. Toyota Motor Philippines has received government certification for the new GR Yaris which will come with a more powerful motor as well as an option between a manual AND automatic transmission for the first time ever.
First shown last year, the GR Yaris already has the distinction of being the most powerful 3-cylinder production engine in the world. For this year, the 2025 GR Yaris ups its figures by an additional 20 horsepower and 30 Nm of torque. This brings its total to 280 horsepower and 390 Nm of torque when running on its recommended 98 octane fuel.
Toyota has upped the GR Yaris’ outputs thanks to various powertrain changes including a strengthened valvetrain, a new exhaust valve material, and an increase in the D-4ST fuel injection pressure. The lightweight pistons also have wear-resistant rings fitted and a new intake pressure sensors has been added.
While the 6-speed manual will remain the standard transmission, the big news is Toyota Motor Philippines’ decision to add the option of an 8-speed automatic. This Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic Transmission is developed with the help of motorsports. It uses a heat-resistant friction material in the gear-shift clutch, while the use of close-ratio gears makes the most out of the engine’s power band.
According to Toyota, while conventional gear shifting relies on sensing vehicle behavior, such as deceleration g-force and speed, the new transmission’s optimized software is also finely tuned to sense how the driver is using the brakes and accelerator. By doing so, it anticipates when gear shifting is necessary even before changes in vehicle behavior occur, so that gear selection reflects the driver’s intentions and is similar to how professional drivers operate.
The system is so good, Toyota says, that the GR Yaris AT can secure faster lap times than the MT.
Other mechanical changes include a more rigid body structure. The number of bolts fastening the body to the shock absorbers has been increased from one to three to suppress alignment changes during driving. The spot weld points have been increased 13 percent, while the areas covered by the structural adhesive is now up 24 percent.
The GR Yaris also receives cosmetic enhancements to improve overall cooling and aero efficiency outside, and operability and visibility inside.

That shows how the Philippines has more love for Toyota.
ReplyDeleteIf Toyota really love the Philippines then they should be selling the Sienna,TNGA Yaris Cross and GR Corolla in the Philippine market instead of decade old overpriced and outdated vehicles like the Vios 🤣🤣🤣

DeleteHow much estimated SRP?
ReplyDeleteExpect a bump from the current P 2.940M. Nothing final yet though.
DeleteIs it okay to run this car with Shell V-Power Racing, which is only rated 97 RON?
ReplyDeleteBetter stick with Petron blaze for optimum performance
ReplyDeleteMy fleet account is with Shell though.
DeleteUh oh, this shall share manual enthusiasts. It's seems more and more people are ditching manual.
