After electrifying the CR-V and Civic, Honda Cars Philippines isn’t wasting any time to expand its hybrid offering with the preview of the 2025 HR-V. Reservations start on January 21 with a price range starting at P 1.6-million and topping out at P 1.9-million.
The HR-V nameplate was re-introduced in 2015 and has since sold over 10,216 units and for 2025, Honda is keen to build on those solid numbers with revised powertrain options. Headlining it is the brand’s advanced two-motor strong hybrid system, the e:HEV. Similar to the Civic and CR-V, the e:HEV comes solely in the HR-V RS variant and provides both outstanding fuel economy and fun-to-drive performance.
The combined output of this powertrain is 131 horsepower and 253 Nm of torque. Although the electric motor provides most of the propulsion, the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder (105 horsepower and 127 Nm of torque) can also supplement power delivery thanks to a clever lockup clutch. A separate electric motor is used to generate electricity that’s stored in the compact lithium-ion battery.
For those who aren’t keen on an electrified powertrain, Honda is carrying over the 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine with 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque for the rest of the variants.
Visually, the 2025 HR-V sports a refreshed exterior. This is characterized by the wider, more upright grille and reprofiled front bumper. At the sides, 18-inch alloy wheels are now standard for the V upwards. The HR-V RS is further enhanced by a blue Honda badge (to connote it as an HEV), the gloss black body kit (with the heartbeat motif at the front) and smoked taillights. Sand Khaki Pearl joins the color line-up.
Inside, the new HR-V has a new center console design which drops the “wraparound” look for a more conventional one. This not only improves things aesthetically, but it frees up a new storage compartment beneath the climate control (now with dual zone functionality). The same 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system remains, but now gains support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The power windows now have a one-touch up/down operation for the front, while the driver’s seat gains power adjustment (V upwards). Wireless device charging and rain-sensing wipers also arrive for all grades V up. The HR-V RS adds a power tailgate with hands-free and walk-away functionality.
The new HR-V is the third Honda vehicle to gain Honda Connect—the brand’s advanced telematics system that allows users to remotely control their vehicle using their smartphone. Not only can it remotely lock/unlock the vehicle and turn the climate control and lights on/off, but it also provides a location finder, trip log, and even geofencing/speed alert notifications.
As before, the HR-V continues to come as standard with Honda Sensing. This ADAS supports functions such as collision mitigation with braking (CMBS), lane keeping assist (LKAS), lane departure warning and assist (RDM with LDW), adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow (ACC with LSF), and lead car departure notification (LCDN). Parking sensors is now standard across all variants, with the V adding the LaneWatch camera. Both the V and RS are also upgraded with reverse auto-tilting sideview mirrors.
Customer deliveries start in March.
After all, I wonder if the HR-V could help keep Filipinos' love for Japanese cars like those from Toyota, Honda, Nissan etc. to be secured.
ReplyDelete1.9 Million Pesos for a HRV RS e:HEV 🤣
ReplyDeleteGeez what a big price jump from 1.3M to 1.6M for the base HRV with 1.5L engine
ReplyDeleteis AC motors the official distributor of honda cars here in ph?
ReplyDeletenope, they're one of them though (maybe authorized?), along with the Yuchengco group. I think both Ayala and Yuchengco owns stake at Honda Cars PH
Deletefreaking finally! lol
ReplyDeleteHonds phils has the habit of jacking up prices at initial intoduction of new or facelifted models. So profit oriented them hondas.. then after a year-- big 6 figures discounts will be the next order of business.
ReplyDeleteSiyempre, supply and demand lang naman yan.
DeleteThis is no way a 1.9m car. It lacks refinement in the interiors, like an economy box. The exterior is sporty but still plain jane. The only thing it has for it going is the Hybrid engine. Disappointing
ReplyDelete1.6 Million Pesos for a HRV S 1.5 liter non-turbo gas variant is ridiculous 🤣
ReplyDeleteHRV Hybrid is gonna rot at Honda Cars dealerships the way it's happening now at overpriced hard to sell Honda Civic Hybrid 🤣🤣
I would suppose our units will be sourced from either Thailand or Indonesia.
ReplyDeleteThailand.
DeleteThailand is also a Toyota and Honda loving market just as most of Southeast Asia, even Ford does well despite it only sells fewer models there like the Ranger and Everest.
DeleteThis makes sense if you think of it as the mini-me of the CR-V e:HEV with the fuel efficiency benefits and you don’t want to pony up the ridiculous cash. It will carry the usual number of passengers and some cargo. On the other hand, base CR-V (ICE) is at 1.9 million this month (01/25) and this new HR-V arrives in March.
ReplyDeleteHope honda will price it lower or else it will rot in the dealerships
ReplyDeleteHonda is the Ferrari for the poor, lol.
DeleteSakit pala sa wallet omg. A possible 1.6m just for the ICE S variant. I remember yung previous base HR-V was just 1,290,000. Honda if it's possible you can remove some unnecessary features from the S and V naman, because this Honda lover cannot with that price range lol. Kung hybrid yung full range siguro pwede pa. I mean the cheapest Corolla Cross doesn't even reach 1.6m and that car's already a hybrid
