Forgot for a minute that Jaecoo Philippines couldn’t be bothered to send a photo with a decent resolution because the first batch of Jaecoo EJ6 all-electric SUVs have arrived in the country.
Squint and you’ll see that the boxy compact SUVs have started arriving into the country making the Philippines the fifth market in Southeast Asia to welcome Jaecoo and sister brand, Omoda.
The Jaecoo EJ6 is an off-road capable fully-electric SUV. Locally, it was first shown at the 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.
Globally, it comes in both 2WD (rear) and 4WD variants, but the entire first batch of units for the Philippines is the top-of-the-line 4WD.
The dual-motor SUV has a combined 278 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque (0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds). Packing a 69.77-kWh battery, it’ll go up to 421 kilometers on a full charge.
Officially, Jaecoo Philippines will announce the prices soon, but dealers are already posting it for P 1,849,000. The rear-wheel drive variant is pegged at P 1,699,000. No word if these prices are final or if they’ll be adjusted upward or downwards.
Per the same dealer posting, the EJ6 measures in at 4,342 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,741 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,715 mm. Ground clearance is around 170 mm thanks in part to 245/55R19 wheels and tires. Despite its modest clearance, it has a 32-degree approach (30 degree when laden) and 34-degree departure (31 degrees when laden). It can even ford through water 600 mm deep.
Riding on Chery’s i-MS platform, the EJ6 features independent suspension and disc brakes on both ends. It also comes complete with a long list of advanced driver assist features including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind spot detection.
“The EJ6 is the first EV offering of the Jaecoo brand in the market, and bringing it to the Philippines is one of the big steps we’re taking to cement our presence in the country,” said an unnamed Omoda and Jaecoo Motor Philippines executive (we kid you not, the press release didn’t contain a name). “More than a display of the Jaecoo brand’s unique automotive engineering DNA, the arrival of EJ6 represents the bold stride we’re taking in introducing an off-road ready all-electric vehicle in the Philippines. The EJ6 is here to meet demands for advanced, powerful, and sustainable off-road mobility solutions.”
Ahead of Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines’ brand launch, interested buyers can send their inquiries about the EJ6 via the social media pages of the dealerships in U.N. Avenue, Manila; Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Alabang, Muntinlupa City; and Marcos Highway, Pasig City. They may also check the model out at its first dealership store at the G-Mall, Cebu City.

DeleteGiven that Chery has a joint venture with Land Rover, therefore the EJ6 would be the easiest for Filipinos to buy a Defender.
