In what could be the clearest sign that 2025 is the year we’ll see the all-new Vios (AC100) launched, Toyota Motor Philippines is squeezing all three legs of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup all during the first eight months of 2025.
The 11th season of the one-make racing series featuring the current Toyota Vios will run during these three weekends:
- Race Weekend 1 – March 20 to 22
- Race Weekend 2 – May 16 to 18
- Race Weekend 3 – August 7 to 9
It is very likely that Toyota will use Race Weekend 1 to launch the refreshed GR Yaris AT which was spotted recently in government document filings. Moreover, it could mean that the all-new Vios (or even the refreshed one) will be launched locally and will go racing almost immediately, or they’ll introduce a new racing series which they planned for, but didn’t execute last year.
Launched in 2014 as the Toyota Vios Cup, the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup has the goal of bringing motorsports closer to Filipinos by inviting professional and amateur racers to race its best-selling sedan, the Vios.
No word if Toyota Motor Philippines will shake up the format once again this 2025, but last year, it removed the Autocross Challenge for the Novice Class. Moreover, the Novice and Promotional Classes as well as the Sporting and Super Sporting Classes were made to race together in the Sprint Races (12-lap or 30-minute race). Meanwhile, an Endurance Race (1.5 hours) mixed all four classes together.
Most likely the update of the older Vios is the one that TMPC is gonna launch and sell as its cheaper to produce and sell
