Kia has confirmed: its all-new Syros small SUV is heading to markets outside of India. The Korean carmaker has said that while it will roll out first in the Indian subcontinent, its availability will be expanded to other markets such as Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East.
In just a month, 10,258 reservations on the Syros have been made signifying its market potential. Now, ahead of customer release starting in February, it has rolled off Kia’s assembly line in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, India.
The Syros has been designed and engineered following in-depth analysis of local market trends to ensure that it precisely meets the needs of its customers.
Riding on a reinforced K1 platform which it shares with the likes of the Hyundai Casper and Exter, the Syros comes with certain segment-first features, particularly rear sliding, reclining, and ventilated seats.
Its 2,550 mm wheelbase delivers class-leading interior space which is also pretty high in terms of tech. Cabin tech include a 30-inch “Trinity” Panoramic Display panel (12.3-inch digital gauge cluster + 12.3-inch infotainment screen + 5-inch touchscreen climate control) powered by Kia’s ccNC software, ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 64 ambient color lighting, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, rear AC vents, and an optional 8-speaker Harman Kardon speaker system too.
It embodies Kia’s Opposites United philosophy. Despite being a combustion engine model, its aesthetics adhere close to the Korean automaker’s futuristic cubist EV design. This includes the Ice Cube multi-reflector front LED headlights, Star Map LED rear lights, the “Digital Tiger Face,” the flushed door handles, and 17-inch alloy wheels with a Crystal Cut design.
Under the hood, the Syros boasts of two engine options—a 1.0-liter turbocharged Smartstream-G engine with 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-liter common rail diesel with 116 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Both are offered in a choice between a manual or automatic transmission.
As for safety, the Syros comes with 6 SRS airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, and a set of 16 ADAS features that meet the criteria for Level 2 self-driving.
More on the Kia Syros here.
Nice but AC motors will surely overprice it once it arrive here, it will just rot like the seltos and VW here
ReplyDeleteAC already has hands with Honda and Isuzu, as majority of Filipinos accept that the Japanese will always be great and the rest?
DeleteKia Philippines won't sell the Syros here due to pricing issues as it'll likely clash with the Sonet SX and Seltos LX
ReplyDeleteAt least PH has Ford's Territory.
DeleteI kinda agree, dimensions wise they're basically the same. Plus it's currently only made in India, which ACMobility doesn't source Kia's from
DeleteWith Hyundai and Kia being South Korean, just as with K-pop, K-dramas and South Korean cuisine, then could Filipinos find love with them just as how they did with Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Ford, Mazda etc.?
ReplyDeleteA 1.2 engine would work for that car in the philippines. 1.0 and 1.5 diesel most likely won't reach our shores i don't know but it always how it works for kia philippines.
ReplyDeleteIndians love diesel power, and in ASEAN, diesels are only limited to trucks etc.
