Isuzu Philippines Unveils 2018 D-Max; Now Equipped with RZ4E Engine (w/ 21 Photos, Brochure)


The Euro-4 compliant RZ4E engine is now on the Isuzu D-Max. Slated to arrive at all Isuzu showrooms by the end of this month, this small-displacement 1.9-liter engine replaces the previous 2.5-liter mill on all value-oriented trims. Together with the new engine and transmission (all models now get a 6-speed manual or automatic), the D-Max also receives some cosmetic changes inside and out.

The local pickup truck segment is tightening and the one that’s starting to feel the pinch is long-time leader, Isuzu. For years, the D-Max has enjoyed brisk sales, but the increased competition from within the segment has caused its sales to plateau in recent months. Knowing quite well its importance to its line-up, the D-Max had to learn to sing a different tune from the “dependable workhorse” formula it has known from Day One. Earlier this year, Isuzu has done just that. They introduced the 2015 version of the D-Max, a timely upgrade that the company hopes will lure weekend warriors and lifestyle-oriented buyers to join the long list of satisfied Isuzu customers.

Isuzu D-Max Continues to Impress at 4x4 Drive Series in Cagayan de Oro; Final Leg Slated in Davao

There can be no doubting it now: The Isuzu D-Max leads the pack when it comes to off-road driving.

This was demonstrated once more as the 2014 Isuzu D-Max 4x4 Drive Series continued to impress in its fourth staging, which was held from June 6 to 8, 2014 in Cagayan de Oro City. The off-road driving activity, which already saw three previous editions in Pampanga, Cebu and Bacolod, consistently showed participants the unmatched capabilities and value-for-money proposition of the D-Max pickup.

First was Pampanga, followed by Cebu. From May 23 to 25, 2014, Bacolod came next as the venue for the third leg of the 2014 Isuzu D-Max 4x4 Drive Series. This brings to more than a thousand the number of people who have test-driven the latest D-Max pickup in specially designed off-road tracks.
