All-New Subaru WRX STI Breaks Isle of Man Record
It seems there is proof in the pudding. Subaru announced that in a final timed run on the Isle of Man TT Course, Mark Higgins driving a 2015 Subaru WRX STI (our 2014) breaks his lap record of the fabled 37-mile course with an average lap speed of 117.510 MPH (189.114 km/h) and a time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds. In Higgins’ record lap earlier this week, several errors caused him to lose time and he was determined to get more out of car. This new lap record breaks the 116.470 MPH average and time of 19:26 set Wednesday. The previous record of 115.36 MPH was set in 2011 in a WRX STI.

2015 Subaru WRX STI Goes to Rallycross
Subaru has a long and successful history in the world of rallying and they’re about to right a new chapter using, what else, the all-new 2015 Subaru WRX STI? Using the New York International Auto Show, Subaru has showed off its new Global RallyCross Championship competitor.
Piloted by Bucky Lasek and Sverre Isachsen, Subaru has previewed its new GRC competitor which features a wide body kit with a carbon fiber roof scoop, side mirrors, and rear wing. The wheels are provided by Method. And like all other GRC competitors, the tires are Yokohama. Subaru of America will reveal more details of its GRC competitor in the fall.
Aside from the GRC, Subaru has also announced that the all-new WRX STI will compete in the Rally America Championship with Travis Pastrana and David Higgins driving. That racing WRX STI should arrive later this year.

UPDATE 2: Full review of Subaru WRX STI Premium.
It’s not every day you get excited about a car even before it was officially launched. In my case, the anticipation for the all-new 2014 Subaru WRX and WRX STI was so high, I was literally begging on my knees to be one of the first to get my hands behind one. Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru in the Philippines, literally whetted my appetite to the point where I was salivating like a rabid dog thanks to all the carefully planned teasers including bringing over the WRX Concept to Manila. Everything turned full circle as they held the regional launch of the WRX and WRX STI in Manila—the first time the country played host to our 9 Asian neighbors for quite some time. (For the complete specs, click here).

Video: The Ride of Her Life
What’s a better way to sell the Subaru WRX STI? Forget the usual ad campaigns. Subaru of America put on a different spin on things with The Ride of Her Life short film that features the 2015 (2014 for us) Subaru WRX STI. It’s certainly a very campy take with drifts, donuts, and a whole lot of ham. It’s even produced by “DoubleURXXX Productions”. Go figure. Happy weekend everyone!

Review: 2012 Subaru Impreza WRX STI A-Line
Photos by Ulysses Ang |
Rally-derived sports sedans such as the
Subaru WRX STI certainly appeals to a lot of buyers. After all, what’s not to
like about its bodacious good looks, powerful turbocharged engine and
all-weather security courtesy of an advanced all-wheel drive. However, even if
you can afford one, since it’s only available with a manual transmission, it
takes a select few—the purist—to truly appreciate a beast such as this. Fortunately
for the rest of the populace, thanks to the increasing trend towards automated
gearboxes on high-performance machines, Subaru is now offering an automatic
transmission option on its WRX STI for the very first time and it’s called the
WRX STI A-Line.
From the outside, there’s absolutely no way
to distinguish between the manual and automatic transmission variants of the
WRX STI. Both the self- and automated-shifting models carry its rally-bred
heritage on its shoulder with the wide body design, copious amount of air
vents, high-luster alloy wheels and of course, a large rear wing. Thus, Motor
Image Pilipinas, the distributor of Subaru automobiles in the country, has
taken upon themselves to offer one big differentiating factor: the six-speed
manual is only available as a sedan while the automatic is exclusively a
five-door hatchback.

MIAS 2012: Subaru Unveils XV, Updates Legacy and WRX STI
Motor Image Pilipinas, the official distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines has unveiled the much-awaited XV compact crossover at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). Based off the all-new fourth generation Impreza (which will debut later in the year), the XV represents the company's new "Confidence in Motion" philosophy.
The XV promises to blend Subaru's core values of driving dynamics, comfort, all-around safety and stability with fuel efficiency and practicality. The XV is powered by the all-new 2.0-liter FB Boxer engine with 150 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque. The sole transmission is a 6-speed CVT (continuously variable transmission). Power is put to the road via Subaru's trademark symmetrical AWD system with an initial torque split of 60/40. This can be re-distributed to the set of wheels that require the traction automatically.

Subaru Launches WRX STI S206
Photos courtesy of Subaru Press |
There's no doubting that the days of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI are numbered (at least in its current form). So, it's just fitting that the folks over at Subaru Tecnica International give it a proper send-off with the S206 (well, at least in Japan). The S206 joins the long list of "S" series STI's.

Review: 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Sedan
Ken Block, you should have stuck with Subaru. You may have a nifty new ride, but is it in the form of a legend? If you decided to stick it out, this may have been your new ride: the Subaru Impreza WRX STI sedan. The name’s certainly a mouthful, but what’s 14 syllables between friends? Hopping into the WRX STI feels like meeting up with an ex-fling: she’s familiar, but there’s always something new about her. And you’ve got to admit, she’s packing some new curves this time too. You’re an unlucky guy, Ken.
