Toyota Motor PH Officially Launches 2020 Wigo with Prices Starting at P 568k (w/ Brochure)

Toyota Motor Philippines made history with its first digital launch. Featuring the 2020 Wigo, the sub-compact hatchback is being positioned as an ideal starter car, especially when social distancing’s important in the “new normal.”

Leaked beforehand by an overeager sales agent, the 2020 Wigo builds on the current model’s success. With a 69 percent market share in the entry-level passenger car segment, it sports a meaner-looking face that matches the angular profile of the hatchback. It gets a new bumper and blacked-out headlights with LED light guide park lights. At the side are power retractable side view mirrors (except for the E) with repeaters, while at the back are new LED taillights with the same blacked out design. 14-inch alloy wheels across the line-up (with machine cut for the G and TRD S) complete the changes.

“The new Wigo remains an iconic car that offers the same familiar feeling of practicality and reliability, but made more advanced, more convenient, safer, and more fun with its sleek and sporty TRD Styling,” says Toyota Motor Philippines President Atsuhiro Okamoto.

New for 2020 is a sportier-looking TRD S variant. Based on the G trim, the TRD S gets unique bumper extensions, skirt extensions, two-tone spoiler, and a unique color, Yello SE which joins the more subdued white and gray metallic.

Inside, the Wigo receives an updated instrument cluster and features such as a engine push start/stop button, touchscreen-based infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (for the TRD S), an advanced air conditioner system, and a back-up camera (G and TRD S). The TRD S also adds a standard dashcam mounted neatly in front of the rear-view mirror.

Tractive effort is provided by a carryover 1.0-liter 3-cylinder engine good for 67 horsepower and 89 Nm of torque. Transmission options remain a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, with the TRD S appearing solely in automatic transmission guise.

For safety, the entire 2020 Wigo line-up receives dual SRS airbags, anti-lock brakes, and rear parking sensors as standard. The G and TRD S adds a backup camera as well.

As for variants and pricing, the 2020 Wigo comes in three trims and four variants:
  • Wigo 1.0 E M/T – P 568,000
  • Wigo 1.0 G M/T – P 623,000
  • Wigo 1.0 G A/T – P 658,000
  • Wigo 1.0 TRD A/T – P 700,000

  1. disappointed that toyota phils. did not bring the 1.2 liter 4 cylinder engine which is now available in indonesia. oh well, i would just wait for the toyota raize which toyota would be introducing in south asia (india and sri lanka), indonesia and singapore (i think available now). in indonesia, the raize has a twin in daihatsu rocky.
