Brembo's New Brake Concept Adds LED Accent Lighting

For its 60th anniversary, Brembo is presenting the New G Sessanta, a new concept inspired by the first-ever brake caliper for motorbikes produced by the company.

The core of the concept lies in the application of LED technology directly on the body of the caliper. While the concept is made for motorcycles, the solution is adaptable to every application and type of caliper so it might see action in four-wheeled vehicles too. According to Brembo, it enhances both form and function: it can be both an interface, communicating directly with the user, and an aesthetic choice, adapting to the user’s tastes and preferences.

Using wireless technology, the Brembo New G Sessanta can be made to emit a desired shade of light to express mood, enhance the style of the bike, or adapt it to the surroundings. This may sound like the tuning scene in the 2000s, but the brake maker does point out to more practical uses. It can be used to help owners locate their vehicle in a parking lot. Best of all, it can send information on the condition of the brakes itself, so owners will know if the pads are worn or if the rotor needs replacing.

The Brembo New G Sessanta concept celebrates the design of the brand’s first-ever brake caliper, manufactured in 1972 for motorbikes, and the name of its designer. While it is in the concept stages for now, Brembo says they are looking to produce calipers based on the technology revealed in the New G Sessanta.
