Ford PH Confirms Diesel F-150, All-New Explorer Arriving Soon

Ford Philippines has confirmed that two North American built models are coming soon: the all-new F-150 and the all-new Explorer. These were confirmed in the new “Coming Soon” section of the Ford Philippines website where buyers can see the line-up of Ford vehicles that will be launched in the near future.

Earlier in the year, a handful of Explorer 2.3 EcoBoost Limited 4WD were made available only to be snapped up quickly by customers eager for a mid-sized 7-seater SUV. This announcement will undoubtedly mean that shipments of the all-new Explorer will become much more regular.

For now, Ford Philippines will make only the 2.3 Limited 4WD as the sole trim level. With that, it comes with a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 304 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque mated to a 10-speed automatic.

The initial batch sold for P 2,998,000 and was made available in Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, Atlas Blue, and Agate Black. Ford has yet to announce if they will be keeping this price, or if there will be subsequent price adjustments.

Meanwhile, the bigger news is the confirmation of the all-new Ford F-150. Globally unveiled last June 2020, it stands to get a diesel engine for the very first time.

The all-new, full-sized pickup truck features a fully boxed high-strength steel frame with a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy body. Redesigned from the ground up, it is the most aerodynamic F-150 ever using active grille shutters, an automatically deploying active air dam, and improved cab and tailgate geometry to further reduce drag.

Ford Philippines has also revealed that the F-150 arriving here will come with the 3.0-liter Power Stroke diesel. This version packs 250 horsepower at 3,250 rpm and 595 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. It also comes mated to a 10-speed automatic.

The website has confirmed that Ford Philippines is bringing in the Lariat trim. This particular F-150 features LED lighting, 18-inch wheels with 275/65R18 tires, ventilated and heated leather seats, power sliding rear window, ambient lighting, and a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with SYNC 4 in the U.S. However, it can be optioned with 20-inch wheels, power moon roof, power tailgate, and an 8-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system.

Again, Ford Philippines will release more information about the diesel F-150, including its pricing closer to its launch.

“We are very excited to enable this section of our website to keep our customers up to speed and excited with what Ford vehicles they can expect to be launched in the future. We invite our customers to stay tuned on our website or visit a Ford dealer for more updates about upcoming Ford vehicles,” says Patrick Manigbas, marketing director, Ford Philippines.

  2. While the F150 Powerstroke promises to be a superb vehicle and is sure to be a big seller among diesel loving pinoys, there could be some issues on its power plant, major enough for Ford to discontinue its production after only a year. Perhaps Ford PH can be more transparent about this matter for the sake of their potential buyers.

    1. We've asked Ford PH on their official position on this, but the Power Stroke diesel was discontinued in the US due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage. They discontinued it in favor of the PowerBoost Hybrid.

  3. Ford Will Discontinue The 3.0-Liter Power Stroke Diesel For F-150
Orders for turbo diesel can be placed through July 16, 2021 and deliveries will take place through late this the year according to Ford. Engine made debut in 2018 and will only have three-year lifespan for F-150. - strange

    1. Why Did Ford Get Rid of the 3.0-liter Power Stroke Diesel?
The likely reason, as is the case with most things, is lack of sales. And while the small turbo diesel engine had merit and was great for fuel economy and extra low-end torque for towing, when Ford introduced the hybrid Power Boost powertrain, it made the merit of the small Power Stroke practically obsolete.

Prior to the hybrid, sales of this engine were waning anyway, which led to speculation that it would be discontinued.

McKenzie confirmed all of this when she told me, “Our customers overwhelmingly order our EcoBoost V6 gasoline engines. For customers who need maximum towing torque, we now offer the F-150 PowerBoost as the ideal combination of capability, power and fuel efficiency, which wasn’t available when Power Stroke was introduced.”

    3. Hopefully sir Uly, Ford PH will entertain those who want to order PowerBoost Hybrid, PHL is as diesel country when it comes to pick up/truck, no doubt this Powerstroke will sell well (if they price it right), and based on the article PowerBoost ate the sales of the PowerStroke in the US.
And based on the previous model introduced a year ago here in our country, gasoline engine F-150 3.5L Ecoboost were sold out, as its not visible on their website anymore...
