Nissan PH Teases 2022 Terra

Reacting to Isuzu Philippines’ official teasing of the all-new 2022 mu-X, Nissan Philippines has also started teasing its very own 7-seater SUV—the updated 2022 Terra.

Except for several shadowy photos on a teaser page that show off the Terra’s revamped headlight design, Nissan has yet to reveal anything concrete about their mid-sized SUV. However, a quick ‘shop of the photos available on their website reveals the picture above.

It looks the same as the model Nissan launched in the Middle East as the X-Terra.

Launched late last year, the 2022 Terra is now further differentiated from the revised Navara on which it’s based on. It takes cues first seen in the Patrol such as the larger, upright V-motion grille, LED headlights with quad projector elements, and squared off bumpers.

Based on the photo, it looks like the updated Terra will retain the outgoing model’s 18-inch wheel size, albeit with a new machined alloy design. At the back, it gets reworked taillights, now lit with LED light guides as well as a new chrome license plate finisher.

Based other teasers, most of the work to the 2022 Terra goes inside where it sports an entirely new dashboard that looks much more upscale. It also gets a new steering wheel, a gauge cluster with a built-in 7-inch Advanced Drive-Assist TFT screen. For infotainment, it gets a 9-inch touchscreen system running the Nissan Connect system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. At the back, it continues with an overhead flip down monitor for the rear passengers as well as USB Type C ports. And yes, the Philippines will be getting a segment-first 8-speaker Bose sound system.

Mechanically, the best bet would be carryover of the current YD25DDTi 2.5-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine. With that, it will make around 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. The gearbox will also be a carryover 7-speed automatic. The biggest change could be the increased sound deadening and the use of sound absorbing glass (acoustic glass) first introduced in the Navara.

The Terra is also expected to carry the full suite of Nissan Intelligent Mobility features such as intelligent emergency braking, intelligent forward collision warning, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, blind spot indicators with rear cross traffic alert, a 360-degree camera, and a camera-based intelligent rear-view mirror.

Like the all-new mu-X, the new 2022 Terra is expected to debut before the end of the year. Nissan Philippines, however, has started opening up test drive slots. You can reserve your slot by clicking here.

  1. how about adapative cruise control and break disc instead of break drum at the back?

    1. Based on what we've seen elsewhere, it will get rear disc brakes but only regular cruise control.
