Honda Foundation Donates P 2-Million To Support Typhoon Odette Relief Operations

To help the victims of Typhoon Odette, Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI), the corporate social responsibility arm of the Honda group of companies in the Philippines composed of Honda Philippines, Inc., Honda Cars Philippines, Inc., Honda Parts Manufacturing Corporation and Honda Trading Philippines, recently donated P 2 million in cash to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), in support of the ongoing relief operations in the provinces affected by the typhoon.

Aside from overseeing and managing the Honda group of companies’ CSR programs and activities, HFI is also engaged in promoting road safety, environmental protection, youth programs, and projects that address local community needs.

The super typhoon wreaked havoc across five regions. Based on a recent report by the UN Office of Coordination for Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA), the typhoon brought severe damage to Caraga, Central Visayas, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and the MIMAROPA regions.

Acording to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), about 478,953 houses were affected, P 16.67 billion worth of infrastructure were damaged, and P 3.963 billion worth of agricultural resources were lost.

“As a responsible, global brand, Honda has always been committed to helping communities in need, especially in times of calamities and natural disasters. We also recognize that Filipinos have always shown their support to our company through the years. Through our donation to the Philippine Red Cross relief operations, we hope that we can touch the lives of those affected by this super typhoon. We also want to spread hope and love, especially amid the holiday season,” Honda management said.

Following Typhoon Odette’s aftermath, the Philippine Red Cross has been tirelessly conducting relief operations in several typhoon-hit places, delivering first aid treatments, food, water, clothes, and hygiene kits, among others. The Red Cross also promised to help at least 400,000 affected individuals.

“We are also committed to our advocacy of being a company that society wants to exist. We aim to continue aiding more Filipinos in the future so we can spread more hope in every moment of crisis,” they added.
