BMW PH Expands 2 Series Family With New Variants

BMW in the Philippines is updating the 2 Series line-up with the arrival of two new variants that promise the same athletic design, sporting prowess, and even more innovative features.

Launched locally in April 2022 as the 220i M Sport, two new variants—the 218i M Sport and M240i xDrive have been added as well.

Serving as the range’s new entry-level variant, the 218i M Sport retails for P 3,590,000, or P 100,000 less than the 220i M Sport. The biggest change here is the tuning of the 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo B48 engine. Here, the outputs are capped at 156 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque (compared to 184 horsepower and 300 Nm in the 220i M Sport). The transmission remains the same: an 8-speed automatic with paddle shifters that drive the rear wheels.

Like the 220i M Sport, the 218i M Sport comes fitted with the same styling and handling package: the M Aerodynamic Package, the M High Gloss Shadow Line, the M Sport Suspension, the M Rear Spoiler, and the 18-inch M Light alloy wheel (double-spoke style 848M Bi-color) with mixed tire sizes.

Inside, sport front seats and a BMW M leather steering wheel come included as do the keyless Comfort Access, ambient lighting, Alcantara/Sensatec combination upholstery, Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite M interior trim, and even the BMW Curved Display system with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch widescreen infotainment screen.

On the other side of the spectrum, the M240i xDrive gets the legendary B58 engine. The 3.0-liter inline-6 here produces a whopping 374 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic driving all four wheels (via the BMW xDrive system), 0 to 100 km/h is done in just 4.3 seconds.

In addition to the rear-biased all-wheel drive system, this variant of the 2 Series adds the Adaptive M Suspension and BMW M Sport Differential giving it razor-sharp handling and a very high level of grip.

Distinguishing the M240i xDrive apart is its special BMW M 50 Years badging, M Sport Brakes with Dark Metallic Blue calipers, and 19-inch M Light alloy wheels in a double-spoke style (792 M Bi-color) with mixed size run flat tires. Inside, it gets Vernasca leather upholstery with décor stitching. Customers can also opt from one of three colors: Tacora Red, Black, and Oyster (a shade of light tan).

This version is priced at P 4,890,000, and like all new BMW models, it comes with an industry-leading 5-year comprehensive warranty.
