Volvo PH Teases All-Electric C40 Recharge

Volvo Cars Philippines looks forward to an electrifying 2023 with the market introduction of the C40 Recharge. This is based off a teaser photo that they posted on their social media accounts (see below).

After being the first in the Philippine luxury space to offer Plug-In Hybrids (PHEVs), and the first to offer a standardized hybrid line-up (Boost Hybrid), Volvo Cars will now offer their first EV.

Globally introduced in 2021, the C40 Recharge is the Swedish luxury brand’s first dedicated EV. Riding on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) co-developed with the Geely Group, the C40 Recharge has all the benefits of an SUV but with a lower, sleeker design for improved aerodynamics. Its front-end pioneers the new face for electric Volvos and includes headlights with state-of-the-art pixel technology.

Volvo Cars Philippines has yet to confirm the exact specifications of the local C40 Recharge, but globally it’s available in either single- or twin-engine configurations.

The former pushes out an already healthy 231 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque, while the latter is good for a combined 408 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is done between 4.7 seconds (twin-engine) to 7.4 seconds (single-engine), while maximum overall range is pegged at 580 kilometers (twin-engine) to 611 kilometers (single-engine) thanks to either a 69-kWh (single-engine) or 78-kWh (twin-engine) lithium-ion battery.

The Volvo C40 Recharge is built alongside the XC40 Recharge in Ghent, Belgium. It will likely be introduced at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) in April.
