Mazda PH Introduces New Top-Trim 2020 CX-5 Variant: the Signature AWD Diesel

Mazda Philippines finally completes its 2020 CX-5 line-up with the introduction of its new top-line model: the Signature AWD Diesel variant. Boasting aesthetic and performance-oriented changes, it’s set to move the goalpost once more in the compact crossover segment.

For 2020, the CX-5 AWD Diesel gets a boost for its 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine. Like its application in the Mazda6, overall output now stands at 190 horsepower, while torque is up to 450 Nm. More than just additional power, multi-stage combustion makes the powertrain quieter and more refined than ever.

Along with the revised engine, the CX-5 AWD Diesel also benefits from surefooted handling thanks to G-Vectoring Control Plus, while ride is made plusher thanks to larger front dampers, and a tweaked rear suspension geometry.

Aesthetically, the 2020 model is barely different from the previous CX-5, except for a new design for its 19-inch wheels. Inside, is where majority of the changes lie. Like the rest of the refreshed CX-5 line-up, it gets a new instrument cluster with a 7-inch LCD screen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. Befitting the Signature trim line though, the CX-5 AWD Diesel gets standard ventilated Nappa leather seats along with a frameless auto-dimming rear view mirror, and one-touch up/down for all windows.

Making its debut on the CX-5 is Mazda’s i-Activsense which now adds Smart City Brake Support and Driver Attention Alert along with Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep and Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. The CX-5 Signature AWD Diesel also gets a 360-degree parking camera.

Now, if you’re wondering how much these changes cost, well, suffice to say, they aren’t free. Price is now up by P 120,000 to P 2,350,000. The 2020 CX-5 Signature AWD Diesel is now available at all authorized Mazda dealerships nationwide.
