Confirmed: The All-New Honda City Is More Fuel Efficient Than Ever

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. share the official results of its recently concluded Fuel Economy Run, in partnership with Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP). Starting the all-new Honda City and Honda City Hatchback, they are, spoiler alert, more fuel efficient than their predecessors.

After a total of 73.5 kilometers highway day driving, the City Hatchback achieved a fuel mileage of 25 km/L. On the other hand, the City sedan achieved a fuel mileage of 25.17 km/L. These figures are significantly higher than the previous fuel economy run conducted for the City back in 2017 at 23.9 kilometers per liter.

To ensure that the fuel economy run was completed under realistic driving conditions, HCPI and AAP set the following parameters for both vehicles: speed of 60-80 kilometer per hour at 1,500 to 2,000 rpm, and the aircon set on low fan and approximately at 24 degrees.

Launched last October 2020 in time with HCPI’s 30th anniversary in the country, the all-new City is the model’s fifth generation, and has become one of HCPI’s best-selling models over the years. On the other hand, the City Hatchback was launched last April 2021, as part of HCPI’s expansion of its City model line-up, specifically in the B-segment hatchback category.

Both models highlight their 1.5-liter 4 Cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine that provides an ideal balance between performance and fuel efficiency. Furthermore, the engine is mated with Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) that produces up to a maximum power output of 121 horsepower at 6,600 rpm, and a maximum of 145 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm.

“The fuel economy run is our own initiative, in partnership and supervision of Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP). Through this, we hope to provide customers accurate information that would aid them to form a decision in their car selection and purchase process. The positive results from the activity reaffirm the fuel efficiency of both City models, hopefully making them a favorable sedan and hatchback choice for the Filipino people.” Said Mr. Masahiko Nakamura, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) president.
