First-Ever Electrified BMW M5 Arrives In Both Sedan, Touring Forms

SMC Asia Car Distributors Corporation has unveiled the all-new, seventh-generation BMW M5, and in a pleasant twist, is making both the sedan and touring (wagon) versions available by order. Either way, the M5 brings BMW’s quintessential sports sedan/wagon into the electrified age with its first-ever plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The 2025 M5 packs a reworked 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that, by itself, puts out 600 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 750 Nm from 1,800 to 5,600 rpm. This is mated to an 8-speed M automatic transmission driving all four wheels via the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. Specifically, for the G90 M5, the M Hybrid TwinPower Turbo, also gets an integrated electric motor that puts out 197 horsepower and 280 Nm for a grand total of 727 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. An underfloor 22.1-kWh (18.6 kWh net) lithium-ion battery provides up to 69 kilometers (67 kilometers in the M5 Touring) of all-electric range at speeds of up to 140 km/h and this one can be charged via an AC input (7.4 kW maximum). The all-new M5 rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds (3.6 seconds in the Touring), while thanks to the standard “Ultimate Package,” top speed has been increased to 305 km/h.

For the Philippine market, the M5 sedan comes with the BMW M Carbon exterior package where the roof, sideview mirrors, and rear spoiler are all made of the lightweight, yet robust material. This is on top of the BMW Iconic Glow, where the trademark kidney grille is lit up and the M-specific Welcome Light Carpet. Mixed wheel sizes with 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the back will in the wheel wells as do M Carbon Ceramic brakes. Also standard is the Adaptive M suspension that automatically adjusts the ride based on road condition or driving style.

A total of eight colors is available for order: Alpine White, M Carbon Black, M Brooklyn Gray, M Fire Red, Isle of Man Green, Marina Bay Blue, and two BMW Individual colors—Frozen Deep Gray and Storm Bay.

Inside, the M5 features Merino Leather upholstery with multi-functional (power adjust) front bucket seats with heating and ventilation as well as a four-zone climate control and the premium 16-speaker Bower & Wilkins surround sound system. Heads-up display, wireless charging, smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), and rear roller blinds are also standard. Naturally, it also has M-specific detailing such as Dark Silver M accents combined with carbon fiber, M leather steering wheel, and an Alcantara headliner.

The M5 Touring also boasts of impressive cargo space. Open the power tailgate and revel at the 500-liter cargo space. Drop the 40/20/40 rear seats down and it grows to 1,630 liters.

It also features a multitude of active and passive safety features including Driving Assistant Professional which is BMW-speak for advanced driver-assistance functions such as adaptive cruise control with stop & go, lane keeping assistant with active side collision protection as well as Parking Assistant Professional—a more advanced level of self-parking, and of course, ConnectedDrive services for vehicle telematics and navigation.

The all-new BMW M5 is now available for order at P 12,790,000 and even comes with an AC home charger and the full BMW factory warranty.
