Toyota Philippines Just Hiked Up the Prices of Their Cars Effective This Month

Review: 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 V Hybrid
As I write this review, gasoline prices have breached P 75 per liter. To put that into perspective, refilling a 50-liter tank a week would cost me P 3,750—or more than half my monthly fuel budget. No matter what you drive, the endless fuel price hikes certainly sting the wallet that it’s starting to seriously affect the sort of new car you’re considering to buy. With battery electric vehicles or BEVs still prohibitively expensive, the next best thing could be to consider a gasoline-electric hybrid. And one that could probably answer most of your requirements is the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 V Hybrid.

Green with Envy: Ford Takes Lead in In-Car Green Technology
Photos by Ulysses Ang |
The tides certainly have turned—it’s this singular thought that raced in my mind after turning on the TV. A few seconds of a generic daytime soap turned into a bombardment of ads; after all, what would you expect from the land of consumerism? The ads for Cialis and Robitussin were easy to ignore, but the ones from Ford weren’t. It’s the sort of car ad I wasn’t accustomed to: quoting gasoline mileage and maintenance cost over horsepower and torque. The US financial meltdown was certainly a factor, but moreover, it’s the overall change in corporate social responsibility that’s fueling this newfound green initiative. And car companies like Ford are taking the lead.

I Drove the Corolla Altis Hybrid for 6 Hours in Traffic So You Won't Have To (Hopefully)
Pardon the lack of updates lately. Coming from a string of trips, I found myself with a pretty bad case of the flu. Yup, I have the whole nine yards—fever, cold sweats, achy joints—it’s come to a point that it’s become tiresome to string together a few sentences that make sense before the Nyquil kicks in.
