After its ASEAN debut in Indonesia early this year, the refreshed Hyundai Creta will finally be making its way to the Philippines. The wait won’t be long as Hyundai Motor Philippines confirmed that it’ll be launching before the end of the month.
The refreshed Creta has been extensively redesigned with a more upright hood, revised bumpers with an integrated skid plate element, new headlights, and DRLs that span the entire front-end. The rear has been equally revamped with end-to-end LED taillights and a bumper with the same built-in skid plate treatment. Capping off the changes are new 17-inch alloy wheels. Confirmed for local release is the first-ever Creta N Line. This sporty variant dons N Line specific bumpers, dual exhausts, a two-tone exterior colorway, and 18-inch alloy wheels with 215/60R18 tires.
Naturally, Hyundai Motor Philippines is keeping the specs under wraps, but if the local market were to follow the Indonesian market closely, it’ll come with either a carryover 1.5-liter MPI 4-cylinder (115 horsepower and 144 Nm) mated to either a 6-speed manual or IVT. The Creta N Line comes packing either the same engine as the regular Creta or a turbocharged 1.5-liter Smartstream G GDi with 160 horsepower and 253 Nm. This one comes solely with a 7-speed DCT.
Inside, the refreshed Creta gets a completely new dashboard that seamlessly integrates the gauge cluster (4.2-inch Supervision cluster or a 10.25-inch full digital display) and infotainment screen (8 or 10.25-inch). The AC control cluster has been revised and so are the seats with its contrasting color elements and piping detail. The rear seats continue to offer a two-step reclinable feature and can be folded down in a 60/40 split. The N Line is further differentiated by its unique steering wheel, shift knob, and seats.
Possible features on the refreshed Creta include automatic headlights, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, front ventilated seats, a power tailgate, an air purifier built into the center console, cooled glovebox, wireless charger, and even an 8-speaker Bose sound system.
Hopefully, Hyundai Motor Philippines rectifies the Creta’s biggest shortcoming which is the lack of safety features. If it makes Hyundai SmartSense standard issue, it’ll gain an ADAS suite that conforms to Level 2 autonomous driving thanks to Forward Collision Assist with Junction Turning support, Forward Collision Warning (with cyclist and pedestrian detection), Blind Spot Collision Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Following Assist, Safe Exit Warning, High Beam Assist, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go support.
This is on top of up to 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and tire pressure monitors.
Stay tuned for the launch of the refreshed Hyundai Creta.
