The Mitsubishi Montero Sport Ditches the Chrome with the New Black Series Model

For SUV owners who want a bit more style, Mitsubishi Motor Philippines is offering the Montero Sport Black Series which sees exterior and interior enhancements.

Based on the GLS 2WD A/T, the Montero Sport Black Series is immediately recognizable thanks to its numerous black exterior touches. Ditching various chrome elements, it gets a black front grille, black front and rear under garnish, black roof rails, and black 18-inch alloys. The changes are capped off with LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, a new hood emblem that spells out “Montero Sport”, and a black roof for the White Pearl color. Inside, it receives an interior emblem that spells out “Montero Sport” and an illuminated scuff plate.

Mechanically, it retains the same 2.4-liter clean diesel engine making 181 horsepower and 430 Nm as well as the 8-speed automatic with magnesium paddle shifters. As an upgraded GLS model, the Montero Sport Black Series features a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and reverse sensors with camera.

The Montero Sport Black Series is available in two colors: Jet Black Mica and White Pearl. It comes with a retail price of P 1,800,000 or a P 31,000 premium over the GLS 2WD A/T. Going for the White Pearl with Black Roof bumps up the price a further P 15,000.

  1. I knew why Mitsubishi copied the mu-X Black Series from 2017. It was an inspiration that ditches the chrome. The Montero Sport Black Series looks similar though to the now-discontinued mu-X Black Series.
