Honda Philippines Refreshes BR-V with More Style, Features at Minimal Price Hike (w/ 13 Photos, Specs)

The first sub-compact 7-seater SUV in the country gets a timely update this year enhancing its styling and adding features to keep it ahead of the competition. The 2019 Honda BR-V, Honda Cars Philippines’s second best-selling model is now available at all 38 authorized dealerships nationwide starting today.

For 2019, Honda focused on enhancing the BR-V’s SUV image and with that, it gets a new chrome front grille paired with a new front bumper. Maintaining its halogen headlights and front fog lights for all variants, the top-of-the-line 1.5 V CVT gets LED daytime running lights for enhanced visibility and safety. The stronger presence is also echoed at the back with the newly-designed rear bumper. All variants get standard roof rails as well and re-designed 16-inch alloy wheels.

Aside from the DRLs, the 1.5 V CVT also gets power folding side mirrors with integrated side turn signals, a Shark Fin antenna, and a rear bumper garnish.

Inside, the BR-V replaces the previous aluminum look interior highlights with Dark Steel ones. The base 1.5 S CVT gets a 7-inch Capacitive Touchscreen Audio Display while the 1.5 V CVT is now equipped with an upgraded version which integrates both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (the first in its class to do so). Additionally, the 1.5 V CVT adds leather seats with red accents. Red accents are also found on the door panel arm rest, steering wheel, and shift knob. The 1.5 V CVT also gets a smart entry with push-start system and paddle shifters as standard equipment.

Mechanically, the BR-V retains the services of its 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine that provides 120 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 4,600 rpm. The most powerful offering in its class, this engine is mated to Honda’s Earth Dreams CVT. Honda’s Eco Assist System, which consists of the ECON mode and Eco-Coaching Ambient Light, is also available to help encourage drivers to drive efficiently.

Standard on both variants are Driver and Front Passenger SRS Airbags; Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) that prevents wheel lock during sudden braking; Hill Start Assist (HSA) that averts backward roll when the vehicle moves from a static position on an incline; Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) that restricts sideway skidding during cornering; and Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock that activates when the vehicle accelerates. The 2019 BR-V also has a rear parking camera across the line-up.

The 2019 BR-V comes in 6 colors: Platinum White Pearl (1.5 V CVT only, new for 2019), Passion Red Pearl (1.5 V CVT only, new for 2019), Taffeta White (1.5 S CVT only), Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, and Premium Amber Metallic (now also available for 1.5 S CVT).

The 2019 Honda BR-V comes in two variants with the following retail prices: 1.5 S CVT (P 1,035,000), and 1.5 V CVT (P 1,155,000). The Platinum White Pearl commands a P 20,000 premium. There is also some good news as Honda Cars Philippines confirmed that the 2019 Honda BR-V will not be affected by the impending price increase of Honda models come July 1, 2019.
